Why We Started Gospel Swag: From the Mission Field to Ministry Through Fashion

For 12 years, I had the privilege of serving as a missionary in Cape Town, South Africa. Those years shaped my faith, deepened my love for people, and anchored my calling to share the Gospel wherever God placed me. Ministry wasn’t just something I did—it was who I was.

Then life shifted.

I returned home to visit my mom, not knowing everything was about to change. While getting out of the car one day, she slipped and fractured her hip. In a moment, my role changed. I became her full-time caretaker—and my time on the mission field came to an unexpected pause.

Like many seasons of transition, this one came with questions. God, how do I continue the work You called me to when I’m no longer overseas? How do I keep spreading the Gospel right where I am?

That’s when God reminded me of something important: the mission doesn’t stop just because the location changes.

When the Mission Field Looks Different

I’ve always had a bit of experience with website design and SEO. As I cared for my mom, I began to consider new ways to share the Gospel—ways that didn’t require a passport or a pulpit. I started thinking about everyday spaces. Streets. Stores. Coffee shops. Social media feeds.

That’s when the idea for Gospel Swag was born.

Let’s be real—people read shirts before they read sermons. Fashion is one of the most visible forms of self-expression, and I realized it could also be a powerful tool for ministry. What if clothing could spark conversations? What if what you wore reminded you—and everyone around you—of God’s grace, truth, and calling?
